The American Business Womens Association was founded September 22, 1949 by Mr. Hilary Bufton Jr. The organization began with 20 members and today has over 50,000 members nationwide. In 1953, in memory of Mr. Buftons son, and educational fund was started. The Stephen Bufton Memorial Fund (SBMF) was designed to further educational opportunities for its members. SBMF to date has exceeded fourteen million dollars in grants and loans to promising young women throughout the nation.
The Sky-Hy Chapter was chartered July 9, 1970. Sky-Hys mission is to raise funds for local scholarships and enhance the professional and personal lives of its members. Sky-Hy has contributed $100,000 to local scholarships; $16,000 to SBMF; and received $12,000 in grants from national headquarters.
